Participating Communities
The Nebraska Main Street Program offers several levels of participation:
The Heritage Nebraska Main Street Community level is a select level of participation for communities that have successfully applied to become designated Main Street programs in Nebraska. These communities have an established organization focused on downtown revitalization with a dedicated board of directors, committees, and paid staff. Communities at this level must have an annual work plan with projects focused on downtown. They are required to participate in an annual program evaluation and attend Main Street workshops and conferences. Participants at this level receive a one-year membership to the National Trust Main Street Center; access to members only resources; discounted registration fees and unlimited access to assistance and support from Heritage Nebraska Main Street, its partners or consultants.
The Heritage Nebraska Urban Neighborhood Commercial District level is a select level of participation for urban neighborhood commercial districts in Omaha and Lincoln that have successfully applied to become designated Main Street programs in Nebraska. The benefits at this level are the same as for Heritage Nebraska Main Street communities.
The Associate Member level is open to any Nebraska community, regardless of size. This level is for a community or community organization that wants to learn more about Main Street or that does not have the local capacity to have an organization dedicated to downtown revitalization. Members receive discounted registration fees for Nebraska Main Street training in other communities and statewide Main Street conferences, one basic information presentation about Main Street, limited telephone or e-mail consultation, fee for service on-site technical assistance, informational mailings from the Nebraska Main Street office and a membership to the National Trust's Main Street Center.
Heritage Nebraska also offers a Friends level for individuals and businesses interested in supporting the programmatic and educational activities of the Main Street program through annual gifts or in-kind donations and assistance.
